About Tattoos
Pricing
Most tattoos are priced by the piece and completed in one session. Larger ongoing tattoos are usually charged by the session.
Touchups
Some tattoos will need a minor touchup. We charge a small fee for touch ups (usually $10.00 -$20 to cover materials). If you do not take care of your tattoo we will charge you a reasonable fee to fix it.
If your tattoo needs a touchup, don’t put it off! You’ll feel better about your tattoo and yourself. Also, your artist will appreciate it because he/she wants their tattoo’s to look their best, because it attracts business.
Tattoo Guarantee
We guarantee our tattoos. If there is a defect in a tattoo performed by us, we will fix it at no charge to you. We want our work to look its best.
It is important you be honest in how you did or didn’t take care of your tattoo. Otherwise, we can not help you prevent the problem from repeating itself. We can usually tell what the problem is just by looking at the tattoo. We reserve the right in determining the cause of the defect.

Tattoo Aftercare
Let us start by stating, “There is no “best way” to care for a tattoo that works best for everyone.” There are different skin types and people react differently to different products.
Before receiving your tattoo we provide you with written aftercare instructions. This gives you an opportunity to review and formulate questions during your tattoo session. At the completion of your tattoo, we will verbally review the aftercare instructions. We will also demonstrate how to take care of your new tattoo and answer your questions.
When you receive your tattoo from Mudscupper’s, it will be performed in a clean & sterile tattoo room with sterile equipment, needles, and quality products. The skin area to be tattooed will be properly prepped. Your tattoo will be administered under clean and sterile conditions. When your tattoo is finished, it will be thoroughly cleaned, disinfected and then wrapped. In other words, your tattoo will be done professionally. Once you leave Mudscupper’s your tattoo is your responsibility. How it heals and looks later is largely dependent upon on how well you take care of it.
Mudscupper’s recommends the following aftercare procedures.

Ointments
Mudscupper’s recommends using: Tattoo Goo, generic triple antibiotic ointment or A&D ointment. The ointment will keep your tattoo moist. Use a light coat. Your tattoo should always look wet in appearance. Avoid name brand ointments (Neosporin, Bacitracin, and products with a lot of zinc).
Your skin needs to breathe, so don’t use too much. Using too much suffocates the skin and may cause a rash.
If you are prone to infection... use a generic triple antibiotic ointment.
Some people will breakout with little red bumps in and around their tattoo. This is usually a result of ointment clogging pores or a mild allergic reaction from the type of ointment being used. If this should happen to you, thoroughly cleanse the area and try a different type of ointment.
Do not allow your tattoo to dry out! Always wash hands before and after touching tattoo.

Covering
After receiving your tattoo, you should keep it covered with telfa or non-stick pads.
Cover your tattoo to protect it from physical activities that may cause physical damage. This will help prevent unwanted environmental elements (dirt, water, chemicals, etc.) from penetrating into it.
Cover tattoo to prevent clothing and bed sheets from wiping the ointment off; resulting in drying out and scabbing.
Keep your tattoo covered until it has healed. Whenever possible, remove covering to allow your skin to breathe. This should only be done when alone and in a safe environment.

Washing
ALWAYS WASH HANDS WITH ANTIBACTERIAL SOAP BEFORE AND AFTER TOUCHING!
NEVER use wash cloths and towels others have or will use.
Keep tattoo covered during showers (plastic wrap) for the first few days.
To clean tattoo: use a damp paper towel (Viva) to gently wipe off old ointment. Gently pat the tattoo dry with a fresh paper towel, reapply a fresh coat of ointment.
NO hot tubs, swimming, soaking in the bathtub until tattoo is completely healed.
|
|
Itching
Do not scratch or pick at your tattoo! Gently massage it or pat it.
|
|
Ongoing Aftercare
After your tattoo has completely healed we recommend the following: Always use a good hand lotion. Vaseline makes an inexpensive hand lotion with petroleum jelly and vitamin E. This product is also available in generic form. Tattoo Goo also works well.
If your tattoo is going to be exposed to the sun, use a good “zinc free” sunblock lotion. Sun and prolonged exposure to water may cause your tattoo to fade over time.

Infection
After receiving your tattoo, you should take extreme precautions to protect yourself from infection. The #1 cause of infection is neglect! Always wash your hands with antibacterial soap before and after touching your tattoo. Only use cleaning items that you know are safe and not contaminated.
Do not leave your tattoo exposed around others that are sneezing, coughing, have colds , strep throat, etc.
|
|
Addendum
Remember; these are only general guidelines. As stated earlier, “There is no “best way” to take care of a tattoo that covers everyone.” Most problems experienced during the healing process is caused by neglect.
PLEASE do not be ignorant! Please do not assume you are not prone to infection just because you have never had an infection. Infections can be extremely serious.
If this is your first tattoo, try our recommendations. If they don’t work for you, simply try another ointment or cleaning method. You have to find out what works best for you.
Whether you receive a tattoo from Mudscupper’s or somewhere else, if you encounter problems during the healing process, always consult your tattooist or physician.
